28/04/2021 - INCF Assembly 2021

Dear DaktariUp2Date.com,

My name is Duncan Ndegwa. I’m a 25-year-old final year medical student at the University of Nairobi. I earned a degree in Medical physiology in 2017, and that is where my curiosity in neuroscience was piqued. I was involved in the tutoring of high school students in the Ubongo campaign. Furthermore, I’ve been active till it’s recent event in 2019, but unfortunately due to the pandemic there hasn’t been much activity of late.

I learned a lot during the INCF assembly, in particular the importance of shared data and the accelerated scientific advancements it may bring. What particularly stood out for me was the session on the data science and neuroinformatics. As an upcoming data analyst, I found new ways to analyze the brain and apply the recent knowledge I gained on machine learning and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, I have been able to network with other students across the globe and I plan to use this knowledge for future neuroinformatics research that I’ll be involved in with them.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the sponsors that enabled me to attend this event. In particular, I would like to mention DaktariUp2Date.com, Prof. Hassanali, Prof. Patel (Trustees of Ubongo Campaign), Chairs of the Medical Physiology Department, Anatomy Department, the Pre-Clinical Dean, the Dean of Medical School, The Principal and Prof. Ogenga (Deputy Vice Chancellor) from the University of Nairobi.

Sincerely,
Duncan Ndegwa.
