05/05/2021 - INCF Assembly 2021
I’m Muinde Nthusi, a 24 year old studying medicine and surgery at the University of Nairobi. I am in my fourth year of study. My interest in neuroscience stemmed from my teenagehood fascination with the brain which was later cultivated by Prof. Nilesh Patel in the University of Nairobi’s BSc. Medical Physiology intercalated programme. During the programme, I got acquainted and involved with the Ubongo campaign where I serve as a tutor and a treasurer.
The INCF assembly was mind blowing, and even that is an understatement. The amount of raw data, of analysed data, and of simulated data in neuroscience is insurmountable, but luckily, there are tools (like EEGLAB) and platforms like INCF trainingspace that can guide a budding medical student like myself in this daunting path. EEGLAB fascinated me the most because the toolbox can clean, process, analyze, and visualize EEG data. I want to learn how to use EEGLAB so that I incorporate it into my future clinical practice. Incorporating EEGLAB into my clinical practice could bolster my research, and enable me to make a contribution (albeit small) to the neuroscientific community.
I am grateful to DaktariUp2Date.com, Prof. Patel, Prof. Hassanali, the Chairman of Medical Physiology, the Chairman of Human Anatomy, the Associate Dean of Medicine, the Dean of Medicine, the Principal of Medicine, and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi for enabling me to attend this conference, and for their continuous support.
Sincerely,
Muinde Nthusi.
